Why You Should Worry About The Plight Of Truckers

Out of Iowa today comes a story about truckers, some of whom are planning to go on strike on April 1st. What they intend to accomplish by the strike is unclear. They appear to stand more to lose than to gain. But as one trucker put it, ???In no way, shape or form do truckers want to hurt this country. My whole deal on this thing is that I??m shutting down on April 1. Call it a strike, a shutdown or just flat-ass going broke.??? If you don??t know why they??re striking, the answer is simple: rising f

Truckers ???going broke?? and threatening to strike

Quote: At issue is the rising cost of diesel fuel, which has reached or exceeded 4 per gallon in at least 17 states. http://www.qctimes.com/articles/2008...845.txt?sPos=3 I am sure a lot of them are having a hard time and finding it difficult to pass on their added costs.

Watch for This

If you want to know what??s in store for the economy, one of the things you should be watching is the relationship of the price of diesel fuel to the price of gasoline. Ordinarily diesel should be within the range set by the price of regular unleaded, and premium. The lower it is within that range, the more likely gas prices should come down a little over the next few weeks. At least, that??s been a fairly reliable rule for the last several years. Here in Georgia, I??ve been seeing diesel price

Open Letter To All Truckers

Trucker Dan is proposing a National Trucking Shutdown as follows: April 1, 2008 is when My trucking Co & thousands of others are shutting down at 8 AM on that date. From that time on we will no longer accept any loads at ANY price until such time as our FED Gov admits & puts into action a plan that will give all O/Os some help. Here is what I would like to see happen, 1 suspend ALL Fed & State fuel taxes until such time that this economy is back on its feet 2 Fed create a FED Over

One major reason for the jump in ammo cost

Have any of you paid attention to the cost of diesel fuel? It is over 4.20 a gallon and remember everything we buy is shipped by truck. Ammunition weighs a lot if you don't realize it. I heard there is a one day trucking strike coming April 1st due to the cost of fuel and insurance on a truck. The truckers want the fuel tax eliminated until the price comes down. And they want all the fuel surcharges the middle men are charging their customers and not passing on to the truckers.

Fuel Prices

Today , on CNN I was totally blown away by a report and interview by a CNN reporter and a group of American truck driver / owner operators. The same is true in Canada. The industry is being bogged down and brought to it's knees by the high fuel prices. These hard working people you see on the road driving the 18 wheelers are going broke ! These people are some of the most patriotic ,hard working people in North America. They are even on constant watch for illegal activities and terrorist activ

Congress - please end Mexican trucking into the US

In an article printed in The Washington Times, Hill urged to keep Mexican trucks legal, Congress is urged not to end the Mexican trucking program into the United States that began September 4, 2007 and has not been funded for 2008. I urge the Congress to halt the program. American lives are at risk on our highways by Mexican truckers who are driving faulty trucks and according to Geraldo Rivera, possibly driving drunk because according to Geraldo, Mexican men drive drunk - it's a cultural thing
